Certified Measurement and Verification Professional®

The Certified Measurement and Verification Professional® (CMVP ®) is the most recognized designation in measurement and verification providing a wide range of benefits to help you thrive in your occupation.

The CMVP is awarded by Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in conjunction with the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO). The training covers all methods applied for the M&V of Energy Efficiency (EE) projects and includes, namely, the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol® (IPMVP®).


- To raise the professional standards of those engaged in measurement and verification
- To improve the practice of measurement and verification by encouraging professionals to partake in a continuing education program of professional development for measurement and verification professionals
- To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles and practices of measurement and verification through completing the certification and fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct

Building Operator Certification

The Building Operator Certification (BOC®) program is an eight-module, nine-day competency - based training and certification program, offering facilities personnel the improved job skills and knowledge to transform workplaces to be more comfortable, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

The program consists of eight courses delivered in a total of nine days of training.

Each course consists of highly interactive and hands-on classroom training facilitated by very knowledgeable and experienced building professionals, project assignments to be completed at the participant’s facility, and an in-class exam administered at the end of each day of training.

Energy Auditing Professional

The Energy Auditing Professional (EAP) training and certification program has been developed based on the 30+ years of international experience of IIET’s parent company, Econoler, in carrying out energy audits in commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. This 3-day program provides participants with the knowledge required to perform any type of audit, ranging from walk-through audits to investment-grade audits, as well as the flexibility to apply different auditing standards like ISO 50002 or ASHRAE.

Certified Professional in Energy Performance Contracting

The International Institute for Energy Training (IIET) offers the Certified Professional in Energy Performance Contracting (CPE) certification which consists of a total of six modules. It constitutes the base knowledge that is required to develop and operate an ESCO and is divided into a Core and a Technical curricula. Individuals that successfully complete all modules and exams receive the CPE certification delivered by IIET in collaboration with the energy efficiency consulting firm Econoler.

Dollars to $ense Energy Management Workshops

Motors, Variable Speed Drives and Energy Efficiency

This introductory course on motors and variable speed drives will give participants a better understanding of motors and the theory behind how they work. Applicable standards regarding motor efficiency will be discussed, in addition to best repair practices. The key features of each motor type will be analyzed to allow for optimal use, since choosing the right motor from the start will greatly improve energy performance. Also covered will be the situations in which variable speed drives (VSDs) are required, their uses and the major control principles. The success of an energy performance contracts lies into the careful attention to all the details throughout the EPC process: procurement, contract negotiation, project scoping, implementation of energy conservation measures, commissioning, training and measurement and verification of energy performance.

Through concrete examples inspired by recent facilitation, or owner’s consultant, assignments related to energy performance contracting, the trainer will share common mistakes and best practices related to all steps of the EPC process. You will also be presented with key considerations to maximise the benefits of energy performance contracting in the public sector.

Achieving Low Energy Performance and Satisfactory Indoor Air Quality

The energy required to run the building HVAC system accounts for a large portion of the building energy costs. Low energy conservation and technological initiatives reduce operating costs, as well as the burning of greenhouse gases. However, meeting building energy performance targets cannot be accomplished at the expense of compromising maintaining satisfactory indoor environmental quality. Evidence suggests that modest improvements in indoor environmental quality would generate substantial returns from increased productivity, and a reduced burden on the health system.

Indoor Environmental Quality is a broad area that covers four main issues: air quality, thermal comfort, lighting quality and noise control. The first two issues are the primary focus of HVAC systems. However, from these two, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is of main concern: on the one hand, thermal discomfort is never unnoticed and forces occupants to act on it; on the other hand, occupants adapt to poor air quality, and therefore operators have no incentives to improve it. The burden is therefore on the proper design, and reliable operation of the HVAC systems to maintain acceptable levels of IAQ in buildings.
